Smashed Potatoes have never tasted better! Air frying them promises a crispy skin with a gorgeous, fluffy center. Whether they are a trusty side dish or main snack, 15 to 20 minutes and a big appetite is all you need! Season well and enjoy it with family and friends.
Scrub and wash the potatoes. Place them in a large cooking pot and add water until the potatoes are submerged.
Cook the potatoes at medium heat and add a teaspoon of salt once it reaches boiling point.
Boil the potatoes until they are cooked through.
Drain the potatoes and discard the water. You can leave them on a colander until they are dry and no more liquid. Or, you can dry them with a paper towel.
Arrange and lay the potatoes on a chopping board. Using a potato masher or a pestle, smash the potatoes until they are slightly flattened and smashed.
Sprinkle the cajun spice all over the potatoes. Turn the spuds and sprinkle again on the other side.
Drizzle the olive oil.
Arrange the smashed potatoes on the air fryer basket. You can line your air fryer with a parchment paper liner.
Set your air fryer to 400°F/ 200°C for 15 minutes or until you can see the edges are crispy.
Notes
You can swap the cajun spice with any other spices you like. Some choices include peri-peri seasoning or a mix of garam masala and cayenne pepper.
Replace olive oil with other neutral cooking oil, such as canola or sunflower oil.
