Why Should You Have A Cucumber Apple Smoothie?
This cucumber apple smoothie drink is refreshing and hydrating, perfect for quenching your thirst on a hot summer day.
And this cucumber and apple smoothie recipe uses only natural ingredients and is jam-packed with so much goodness. Starting from hydrating cucumber, which has the benefit of lowering blood pressure, and anti-inflammatory and controlling blood sugar. The granny Smith apple gives a tangy sweetness while offering fiber and antioxidants. It also offers amazing benefits of keeping our bones strong and improving the immune system.
As for the other ingredients – mint leaves, lime, and agave nectar -all offer goodness in their own right.
The mint leaves add a nice flavor, aid digestion, and freshen your breath. The lime contains high vitamin C and antioxidants. At the same time, the agave nectar has vitamins B and K.
So, whether you’re looking for an energizing drink or a healthy pick-me-up, you should try this green smoothie. And this smoothie is dairy-free and can be 100% vegan, provided you stick to the recipe and use agave nectar.
Other Smoothies That Are Good For You
I promise they are all healthy and tasty, making them an ideal choice for our fruit and vegetable intake.
What Do You Need To Make Cucumber And Apple Smoothie?
You need six items to make this smoothie: cucumber, apple, mint leaves, lime, agave nectar, and water/ sparkling water.
For the apples, you can choose any green apple you like. However, I use green granny smith apples because they are crispier and taste better when combined with cucumber and the other ingredients.
If you don’t have lime, you can use lemon instead. The only difference is that lime has a sharper flavor and fragrance than lemon. But both give that refreshing citrus taste.
As mentioned above, using agave nectar will make this recipe vegan 100%. However, you can always use maple syrup or honey if you don’t have agave nectar. The latter will not make the smoothie vegan-friendly.
For the water, I sometimes prefer using sparkling water just because it gives a fresh feel to the smoothie. But feel free to use ordinary water or mineral water. Another liquid that you can use is apple juice. However, you may want to check its sweetness before adding syrup or honey because the apple juice might give enough sweetness to the smoothie.
How To Make Cucumber Apple Smoothie
I think it is quite self-explanatory how to make this smoothie.
You only need to prepare the fruits and veg, wash them, cut them, and place them in a high-speed blender. Then, you blend until smooth for about 2 minutes.
My current blender is only about 600 watts in power. Although it’s very good, I sometimes blitz the smoothie longer. Because I don’t think it’s powerful enough to blend in no time.
So, if you want to do it quickly and make a smoother smoothie, I’d say you use a more powerful blender. You need at least a 1000-watt blender like this one. I am waiting for the sale to invest in one, too.
When you prepare your ingredients, you may prefer to peel the cucumber and apple. I usually peel the apples but not the cucumber.
How Long Can We Keep The Smoothie?
Should you keep this cucumber apple smoothie to enjoy later, 4-5 hours is the maximum time you can keep the smoothie in the refrigerator. If you do it longer, it will not taste as fresh. Also, the apple will make the smoothie darker in color due to its oxidation process.
